Its my first visit to Gorakhpur , its been really far cry from what Vishal (a Gorakhpuri but unfortunately my best pal) used to tell . The city is actually very important in term's of population and in many movies it has been distinctly placed like Ishqiya and Sahar (another movie by Arshad Varsi about crime and mafia in Eastern U.P.).
The population of the town has been swelling like anything , due to being most important town in eastern up it has very high importance, but one look at the city at it looks as if the town planners have totally forgotten about the difference between city and village .
Most of the roads are crammed with encroachments , and unmanned traffic , vehicles are less and so are the road's as well , streets are very small and resemble the ones that are in villages , the drainage system are even more primitive than what used to be in Indus Valley Civilization , with no drains , all there is in the name of drainage system are open streams emerging from homes , all are uncovered . so don't bother about the smell or mosquitoes .
The market place and best places all look like same , evrywhere u find most abundent thing that is human , I think in next 5 yrs all that will be left will be small lanes and vehicles there will be hardly any chance they will be used .
But whatever be the negative points the thing is that I am in love with this town , after living for so many days in the metros like Bangalore , Delhi it seems to be respite feels very much like home . The frindly attitude draws an inspirations to do something for which I have come here , i think it's always better to be
A BIG FISH IN A SMALL POND , RATHER THAN A SMALL FISH IN BIG POND.
All the best for your venture.
